Who: OTTOLINGER is the Berlin-based label founded by Christa Bösch and Cosima Gadient.

When: In 2018 OTTOLINGER showed its SS2019 collection on the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week, designed Beyoncé’s Tour OTR II outfit and was nominated for the Swiss Design Award, as well as shortlisted for the LVMH Prize.

Where: The two designers met while studying fashion design at FHNW. Soon after graduating they left for Berlin and founded their label OTTOLINGER. This was the perfect ecosystem for them to develop their wild and deconstructivist style.

What: There is something endlessly itching as much as appealing in OTTOLINGER’s work and presence. Their approach combines sex appeal and deconstruction in such a way that conventions about what constitutes beauty and what looks good are displaced. This displacement opens a space for the unexpected and the unorthodox: qualities that radiate through the holes they burnt in the precious fabrics with their soldering iron rod. Notwithstanding the rough aesthetic, hand-made precision work guarantees the high quality of the garments.

Why: OTTOLINGER challenges traditional expectations within fashion, gaining international recognition: Vogue magazine described their work as “couture-level precision and perfected imperfection.”
